The Pirates supported the Penguins before Game 5 by wearing hockey sweaters to the ballpark

Thursday, the Penguins took on the Sharks in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals with a chance to clinch the title. It would've been the first championship in any of the four major sports leagues won at home in Pittsburgh since 1960, when Bill Mazeroski hit his famous Game 7 home run against the Yankees. (The Pittsburgh Pipers also won the 1968 ABA title at home.)

And with the Steel City so close to popping the champagne, it was only right for all of its sports teams to stand together. Luckily, the Pirates were on the case prior to heading on the road to face the Rockies -- and they brought their finest Penguins sweaters/motorized scooters.

Fortunately, their game at Colorado on Thursday started just after 5 p.m. ET, meaning that the team was able to catch the end of the game on their flight back to Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, the Penguins fell, 4-2, meaning that we'll hopefully get at least one more day with those beautiful sweaters.
