The ultimate Game 1 starter

Chris Carpenter will take seven career postseason victories and a 3.11 ERA out to the mound with him when he starts Game 1 of the World Series on Wednesday. Not too shabby.

But there might be one guy who Cards fans would rather see on the hill at Busch Stadium -- even at 75 years old: Bob Gibson.

One of the most dominant starters in baseball history, Gibson went the distance in eight of his nine career World Series outings, including a 17-strikeout five-hitter in Game 1 of the 1968 Fall Classic.

Plus he wasn't afraid to rock cowboy boots in this brilliantly mid-90's interview.
