No, we have no idea how Tom Koehler avoided this broken bat either

Baseball players are such finely tuned athletes that they pull off the spectacular without even trying. Just check out what Tom Koehler did in the top of the second inning of Monday's Phillies - Marlins game. 
Not only did Koehler hop off the mound to make a nice play on Nick Williams' batted ball, but he somehow avoided the shard of bat that was flying his way, too: 

Watch that again. And again. And again. No, we have no idea how he managed to keep his body out of the way of the bouncing bat. Though once the play was completed, he did stare blankly at the offending shard:
