The Yankees-Tigers game was so cold, the umpires needed help putting their gloves on
When the Yankees and Tigers squared off on Saturday afternoon, the temperature was an absolutely frigid 31 degrees. While any sane person would say, "You know what, I'm going to head inside and crawl back under the covers," the baseball teams knew there were plenty of people counting on them. (Like the 32,000 fans that were in attendance -- an absolutely phenomenal number when you think of how cold it was.)
Of course, given the weather, the umpires needed a little assistance putting their gloves on.
Whether that's because their gloves were puffy or they no longer could feel their fingers, we can't say for certain. Maybe they just like being treated like kings.
