Celebrate David Wright's 31st birthday with the longest Mets homer of 2013
Happy 31st birthday to Mets third baseman and Captain America-impersonator David Wright! To celebrate his 31 years saving the planet from floating breaking balls, let's watch him hit the longest home run of the Mets' season.
On May 3 at Turner Field, with the Mets trailing the Braves 5-4 heading into the top of the ninth, Atlanta sent in their superstar closer, Craig Kimbrel, to finish the job. Kimbrel finished the 2012 season with 42 total saves recorded -- tops in the National League. He repeated at the top of the list in 2013, finishing with 50 saves in 54 opportunities.
Unfortunately for Kimbrel, May 3 wasn't one of those 50.
With one out in the frame, David Wright strode to the plate -- you can probably guess what happened next:
Enjoy celebrating your 31st birthday, David! Thanks for clobbering baseballs and saving America.
