Pinch-hitter Kenta Maeda kindly gave Nationals prospect Koda Glover his first MLB strikeout
That may be why Dodgers manager Dave Roberts felt OK bringing him in to to pinch hit for Adam Liberatore in the top of the ninth inning of Thursday's 6-3 win over the Nationals. Now, let's see how that went.
Well, they can't all be homers. It was really nice of him to give Nationals prospect Koda Glover his first big-league strikeout, though.
But why Maeda, instead of another available player? There was at least one major reason:

"There is a little bit of hesitancy, but with Kenta I trust him," Roberts told MLB.com's Alex Putterman. "If it was a closer game I would've used a position player, but I wanted to keep [Seager and Grandal] out of the game if possible."
