Twelve-year-old meets McCutchen and signs with Pirates
One day after meeting his oldest fan, Andrew McCutchen met a much younger one: 12-year-old Matthew Beichner. Diagnosed with a rare brain tumor, the Make-A-Wish Foundation did much more than just fulfill Matthew's wish to meet the Pirates center fielder.
After the two played catch and had lunch in center field, Matthew signed a one-day contract with the Pirates, got his own locker in the clubhouse, had a one-on-one meeting with manager Clint Hurdle and even threw out the first pitch.
Coming off a Little League no-hitter, naturally Beichner threw a perfect strike.
