This is not a typo: Giovanni Soto threw to Geovany Soto at White Sox Spring Training

The biggest moment of Monday morning's White Sox workout at Camelback Ranch was when Giovanni Soto threw to Geovany Soto during live batting practice. No, this wasn't some kind of cloning mishap or some kind of Rougned Odor situation -- they are, in fact, two different and unrelated people.
Notice the difference in spellings of the first names: Giovanni with the "I" is a 25-year-old left-handed pitcher trying to work his way into the team's bullpen mix, and Geovany with the "Y" is the veteran catcher beginning his second run with the South Siders after catching for the team in '15.
Interesting coincidence? Definitely. Confusing? Most definitely.
"It's kind of weird, especially in the clubhouse and on the field because when someone says 'Geo', we turn around to see if it's for him or for me," said Giovanni Soto through interpreter Billy Russo. "And we also have [Lucas] Giolito, and people call him Gio. It's weird, but it's funny too."
Beyond the pair of Sotos, the White Sox also have Willy, Avisail and Leury García in camp. Let's not forget Zach Putnam, Zack Burdi and Zack Collins. But nothing compares to the pair from Puerto Rico with the near-identical names.
"We are pretty good friends and it's kind of surreal that he has the same name, last name," Geovany Soto said. "It's kind of weird calling him Geo and he's calling me Geo. There's a lot of Geo going on with Giolito, Giovanni and then me. [It] can get pretty hectic. But yeah, it's fun for us."
