With a pair of self-lacing sneakers, Jeremy Guthrie may be living in the future
On Wednesday, Nike announced that Nike MAGs, the iconic self-lacing shoes from Back to the Future II, would be released sometime in the remaining "11 and two-thirds months left in 2015." Well, with a pair of special release sneakers that Nike put out in 2011 to benefit the Michael J. Fox foundation, it appears that Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie is already living in the not-so-distant future.
Guthrie is a noted sneaker aficionado -- according to Nice Kicks, he's someone who houses his footwear collection in "not a closet but a vault." It makes sense, then, that Guthrie would get his hands -- er, feet -- on a pair of Nike's power-lacing sneakers.
We just have to wait for when the shoes are officially released to the public to catch-up to whenever Guthrie is living.
Between this and the Cubs' busy offseason, BTTF is looking impressively prescient about 2015.
UPDATE: Oct. 21, 2015 is "Back to the Future" Day because it's the exact date Marty McFly jumps to in the trilogy's second installment. Guthrie celebrated the unofficial holiday by rocking his sick kicks before Game 5 of the ALCS.
