On Sunday evening, Yankee Stadium hosted its first-ever soccer match when Chelsea FC played took on Paris Saint-Germain. The diamond was transformed into a soccer pitch in just two days.

Even though the hometown Yankees were out on a West Coast road trip, the event wasn't lacking in pinstriped flavor. Closer Mariano Rivera took part in the official pregame coin toss.

The match was the first of two scheduled at the new Yankee Stadium pitch as part of the 2012 World Football Challenge. Real Madrid will square off against A.C. Milan on Aug. 8th.
