'Mr. Walk-Off' Ryan Zimmerman does it again, gets rewarded with a chocolate syrup shower

Zimmerman hits 10th walk-off HR to beat Yankees

Over the years, Ryan Zimmerman has demonstrated what the kids would call "a flair for the dramatic." By the end of his sixth season in the Show in 2011, he had already walked off with a dinger eight different times -- including a couple of classics, like this one from the first-ever game at Nationals Park in 2006.

But alas, Zimmerman had hit a bit of a dry spell, with just one game-ending homer in the four years since and a nation's capital left in desperate need of their Mr. Walk-Off. But on Tuesday night against the Yankees, with the suddenly-white-hot Nats bearing down on first place in the NL East, Washington's hero rose again in the only way he knows how:

Zimmerman Walk-off

The city of Washington was overjoyed, men, women and children celebrating in the streets, and Zimmerman was given the most fitting of rewards: lots and lots of chocolate syrup, of course. Not, you know, to eat, but just to bathe in, as legends are wont to do:

The heroics continue Zimmerman's rightful ascension to the walk-off Mount Rushmore -- he's third on the active list, behind just David Ortiz and Albert Pujols, and sits at fourth in National League history. All of which we're sure he'll properly appreciate in about 10 hours, when he finishes washing that syrup out of his hair.
