PHOENIX -- It appears that A.J. Pollock's right wrist is doing just fine.
The D-backs outfielder was back in the lineup after a night off, and he homered and drove in a pair of runs in Arizona's 6-2 win over the Padres on Saturday night at Chase Field.
Pollock tweaked the wrist on Thursday night when he collided in right-center with Chris Owings. He was held out of the lineup and from pinch-hitting on Friday for precautionary reasons.
"It was kind of a one-day thing," Pollock said. "If it was playoff time, I would have definitely tried to go out there. It was nice to get the one day and be able to get that thing back to where I felt comfortable with it and not jack up my mechanics [at the plate], and then get back at it today."
With outfielder Steven Souza Jr. and third baseman Jake Lamb on the disabled list, the D-backs could ill afford another injury to a key offensive piece.
Pollock broke a 2-2 tie in the third with a two-out solo homer off Clayton Richard (1-2) and he contributed to a two-run seventh inning with an RBI single to center.

"Richard is definitely a guy that wants to get you to hit ground balls," Pollock said when talking about the at-bat in which he went deep. "He's got a lot of sink on his ball, a lot of deception, a lot of angle to it. When he's on, he's getting a lot of guys to roll it over to shortstop and third, and I was just trying to put a good swing on it and stay on whatever pitch he was throwing me. Not try to hit a homer, but try to drive a ball the other way."
The support helped make a winner of Zack Godley, who had struggled in his previous start against the Dodgers when he allowed six walks and lasted just four innings. He went 5 1/3 innings on Saturday, striking out eight.
It wasn't just Godley who shook off a poor performance, the D-backs did as well, after they committed a pair of errors in allowing three ninth-inning runs in a loss Friday night.
"I thought overall it was just a really good bounce back win," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said. "This is one of the characteristics this team walks around with every single day -- they can shake off tough moments, they can come together, they are resilient, they are tough. Today was a perfect example of that."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Flashing leather: With the score tied at 2, the Padres put a pair of runners on against Godley with two outs in the third. Freddy Galvis then hit a grounder to the hole at short. Nick Ahmed made a nice backhanded play and nabbed Galvis at first. The play potentially saved a pair of runs, before Pollock's homer in the bottom half of the inning gave them the lead for good.

"It's what you expect out of Nick," D-backs first baseman Paul Goldschmidt said. "He's so good out there, I guess you kind of take it for granted. He makes it look easy sometimes."
And he hits, too: After Deven Marrero tripled home Owings in the second, Godley followed later with a two-out single up the middle to score Marrero and tie the game at 2.

"I thought obviously Zack Godley's big base hit gave us a boost of energy inside the dugout," Lovullo said. "Then he went out there and had some shutdown innings, which was also nice."

Godley became the ninth pitcher since 1996 to record an RBI on his birthday. The last pitcher to do it prior to Godley was another Arizona pitcher -- lefty Patrick Corbin, on July 19, 2015.

The D-backs close out their three-game series with the Padres on Sunday afternoon at 1:10 MST at Chase Field. Corbin will get the start for Arizona. The last time the left-hander took the mound, he narrowly missed throwing his first career no-hitter. Corbin held the Giants hitless until Brandon Belt's check swing grounder to third beat the shift with two outs in the eighth inning. Corbin did not allow another hit, as he finished with a complete game one-hitter.
