PHOENIX -- Daniel Descalso's two-out single to right field off Edubray Ramos scored Paul Goldschmidt from second base as the D-backs walked off the Phillies, 2-1, in 11 innings Sunday afternoon at Chase Field.
It was the D-backs' 11th win in their past 13 games, as well as the second walk-off hit of the year for Descalso, who hit a game-winning homer in the 13th inning April 30 to beat the Rockies.
"I think they've both been in extra innings, and I've just wanted to go home," Descalso said with a smile. "No, I think you have to want to be up in those spots. That's why we're out there playing: to be up there with the game on the line and be able to come through for your team."
Jeremy Hellickson and Randall Delgado traded zeroes early on before the D-backs finally got on the board in the fourth. Nick Ahmed led off the inning with a double to left and Goldschmidt followed with a single to left to score him.

It remained a 1-0 game until the seventh, when pinch-hitter Howie Kendrick blooped a pinch-hit single to right to score Odubel Herrera. Still tied in the 11th, Goldschmidt singled to center with two outs, moved to second on Chris Owings' walk and scored on Descalso's hit.
"Once again, not enough offense," Phillies manager Pete Mackanin said. "We've been playing teams so tough. They've got a really good team and we've played them well."

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
An even dozen: Descalso gets credit for the game-winning hit, but Owings deserves mention for drawing a key walk right before him. Owings battled Ramos for 12 pitches before taking a 3-2 slider on the edge of the strike zone for ball four.

"Just trying to have a good at-bat," Owings said. "I told [Descalso] that I tired out [Ramos] for him."
Said Descalso: "C.O. had him waste all his best pitches, and he threw me one down the middle that I could pull through the hole. C.O. had a great at-bat there to get me up."
Just out of reach: Kendrick pinch-hit in the seventh with runners at first and third and got jammed by a 95-mph fastball from Archie Bradley. However, Kendrick was able to fight off the pitch and hit a blooper down the right field-line that landed just outside the grasp of a diving Brandon Drury and just inside the foul line to score a run and tie the game at 1-1. The D-backs challenged the call, but after a brief review, the call was confirmed. Drury appeared shaken up on the play but remained in the game

"He just knocked the wind out of himself," D-backs manager Torey Lovullo said.
QUOTABLE
"Grinds through it. Several pitches, takes the 3-2 slider and puts the man in scoring position. Those are the little things that we do on a nightly basis that show up inside of our clubhouse, but not necessarily in the box score. A great at-bat."

"Yeah, absolutely. But at the same time, I think we're not that far off with the guys we have coming up. I think if we just stayed healthy this year, it would be a lot better. Yeah, I would like to be here for when things turn around, but at the same time, it's always fun to play in October."

The D-backs picked Maikel Franco off second base in the second inning, and the Phillies returned the favor by picking off Owings at first in the fourth. It was the first Major League game this year in which both teams picked off a runner.
CAMERON STRUGGLING
Phillies rookie Cameron Perkins posted an .863 OPS in Triple-A Lehigh Valley, striking out 35 times and walking 27 times, before his promotion last week. But he is hitting .091 (2-for-22) with zero walks and eight strikeouts in six games. Mackanin said he might not play Perkins on Monday, and figures to drop him out of the leadoff spot after that.
"I feel like I'm down every count," Perkins said. "I can't get that at-bat where I'm 2-0. Every time I go up there, I'm down in the count, and it's harder to hit when you're 0-2 against these guys. Just hang with it. It's baseball. I've gone oh-fer in my life plenty of times. I hope I get to do it for 10 more years."

Phillies: Right-hander Nick Pivetta (1-3, 4.46 ERA) pitches the series finale against the D-backs on Monday afternoon at Chase Field. First pitch is at 3:40 p.m. ET. Pivetta has allowed eight hits and three runs and has struck out 19 in 13 innings in his past two starts, after posting a 5.52 ERA in his first six starts.
D-backs:Zack Greinke will take the hill for the D-backs on Monday at 12:40 p.m. MST to close out the series. Greinke (8-4, 3.14 ERA) is second in the National League in WAR (2.5) and has gone 7-3 with a 2.90 ERA over his past 10 starts.
