PHOENIX -- D-backs top pitching prospect Trevor Bauer is not in the big leagues yet, but the right-hander will be at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City for All-Star Game festivities.
Bauer and Double-A outfielder Alfredo Marte were named to the XM All-Star Futures Game rosters Thursday.
Bauer will be a part of the U.S. Team, while Marte will be on the World Team.
The 14th annual Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD and followed live on MLB.com's Gameday on Sunday, July 8, at 3 p.m. MT. In addition, XM Radio will broadcast play-by-play coverage of the event live on MLB Network Radio XM 89. MLB.com will also provide complete coverage before, during and after the game. Fans can stay updated by following @MLBFutures on Twitter and can send/receive tweets to/from the U.S. and World team dugouts during the game by following @USDugout and @WorldDugout.
Major League Baseball, along with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League baseball clubs, selected the 25-man rosters.
Bauer was the D-backs' top pick (third overall) in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of UCLA. He signed quicker than most picks and wound up making seven starts between Class A Visalia and Mobile, going 1-2 with a 5.96 ERA.
A member of the 40-man roster, Bauer appeared in four games during Spring Training and compiled a 3.60 ERA before starting the 2012 regular season at Mobile.
After dominating at Mobile with a 7-1 record and a 1.68 ERA in eight starts he was promoted to Triple-A Reno, where he is 4-0 with a 2.79 ERA.
The success has led to calls from fans for Bauer to be promoted to the big leagues, but earlier this month general manager Kevin Towers said the team was not actively trying to make a spot for him.
"He's pretty much done all he probably can do at Double-A and Triple-A, and he's been very successful at it," Towers said. "Sometimes you just have to wait your turn -- you know, wait for that opportunity.
How that opportunity presents itself -- be it an injury or a trade or somebody's not performing and ends up going down and then you take advantage of it. But right now, I don't know who I'd take out of the rotation to make room for him, and I don't want to put him in the bullpen."
Marte, meanwhile, was named the Most Valuable Player of the Southern League All-Star Game after going 2-for-2 with a double in the contest.
At the time of the All-Star break, Marte was leading the Southern League in slugging percentage (.557) and was near the top in home runs and RBIs.
The D-backs will also be represented on the coaching staff. Mobile manager Turner Ward was chosen as one of manager Bernie Williams' coaches for the World Team.
