D-backs Reinstate Joe Saunders from Disabled List, Option Corbin to Reno

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced they have reinstated left-handed pitcher Joe Saunders from the 15-day disabled list and optioned left-handed pitcher Patrick Corbin to Triple-A Reno, according to D-backs’ Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Saunders, 31, is 4-5 with a 3.44 ERA (31 ER in 81.0 IP) in 13 starts with the D-backs in 2012. He was placed on the disabled list with a strained left shoulder on June 23 (retro to June 17) after being scratched from his start on June 16 vs. Cubs.

The 6-foot-3, left-hander made 1 rehab start with Rookie AZL D-backs on July 8 vs. AZL Indians (3 ER in 4.1 IP).

Corbin, 22, was 2-4 with a 4.15 ERA (18 ER in 39.0 IP) and 1 save in 10 games (5 starts) with the D-backs this season. He tossed 1.0 scoreless inning with 1 strikeout yesterday at Cubs.
