NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Hot Stove heats up this week as baseball's annual Winter Meetings kick off at the Opryland Hotel on Monday. will be your place for all the essential information from the Meetings, which include all teams' general managers and baseball operations departments as well as agents. There will be luncheons, industry meetings and the Rule 5 Draft.

Of course the biggest thing to follow is the trade talks and discussions with free agents that happen when you put all these folks under the same roof for four days.

We'll have all that covered here each day with the latest rumors, signings and any and all actual news that takes place. There will be stories on the main site, and the blog will be cranked up once again, as well as Twitter.

You'll hear from D-backs manager Kirk Gibson on Tuesday afternoon, as he addresses the media. How does Gibson plan to get his team back into the playoffs after a disappointing 81-81 finish in 2012? We'll see what he has to say.

The Meetings will come to a close Thursday morning with the Rule 5 Draft. Keep in mind that while it sometimes does not get a lot of attention, the Rule 5 Draft is where the D-backs nabbed lefty Joe Paterson in 2010.

D-backs GM Kevin Towers has said that if the season started today, he would be comfortable with the team he has, but there are still areas Towers would like to upgrade, such as the left side of the infield and the rotation.

In addition, the team's decision to non-tender Wil Nieves on Friday night leaves them looking for a backup catcher.

It could be that the next few days will be quiet ones for the D-backs, but Justin Upton's name has been in rumors throughout the offseason, and Nashville could be the place where Towers ultimately decides to deal the outfielder.
