Fans invited to go old-school for D-backs' party

Game Seven Grill to host event featuring club alums, World Series trophy

PHOENIX -- While D-backs fans have come to know and love the Sedona Red that is now seen on the team's uniforms and throughout Chase Field, many fans still keep the old-school black, teal and purple in their closets from the franchise's earliest days. This Friday, the team is providing fans with the golden opportunity to break out that gear for the Budweiser Throwback Watch Party at Game Seven Grill, located on the Gila River Casino Plaza at Chase Field.

Former D-backs Augie Ojeda and Albie Lopez will be on hand beginning at 3:30 p.m. this Friday, as will the 2001 World Series trophy. Fans can have their pictures taken with the trophy and the former D-backs while they watch the team take on the Philadelphia Phillies in the first game of a three-game series.

Prizes will be available to fans in attendance, and the grill will be open for the first time on a non-game day. The event is open to the public, with a customized menu inside the BBQ-style restaurant, which opened on April 1 this year.

The Budweiser Throwback Watch Party is being held in advance of the team's upcoming Throwback Night on Aug. 31, presented by Denny's in partnership with Sanderson Ford. Following the game that night against the Giants, Ojeda and Lopez will join the likes of Luis Gonzalez, Matt Williams, Steve Finley, Travis Lee, Shea Hillenbrand, Junior Spivey, Reggie Sanders and Greg Swindell, who are all scheduled to participate in the second annual Alumni Game. Last year's four-inning exhibition featuring rival managers Gonzalez and Williams ended in a 2-2 tie, but it gave fans their first look at many of the alumni since their respective playing days for the franchise.
