D-backs recall Delgado from Triple-A Reno, place McCarthy on 15-day disabled list

The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) recalled right-handed pitcher Randall Delgado (@RandallDelgado) from Triple-A Reno and placed right-handed pitcher Brandon McCarthy (@BMcCarthy32) on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to May 31) with inflammation of his right shoulder, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Delgado, 23, was 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA (4 ER in 16.2 IP) in his last 3 starts for the Aces. In 11 starts overall, he was 1-4 with a 6.84 ERA (39 ER in 51.1 IP). This is his first stint in the Majors this season. In 2011-12 with the Braves, he appeared in 25 games (24 starts) and went 5-10 with a 3.95 ERA (56 ER in 127.2 IP). Delgado will wear No. 48.

McCarthy, 29, is 2-4 with a 5.00 ERA (37 ER in 66.2 IP) in 11 starts this season. In 3 starts from May 12-24, he went 2-0 with a 0.38 ERA (1 ER in 24.0 IP), including a career-high 18.0-inning scoreless streak from May 7-24.
