D-backs recall Skaggs; option De La Rosa to Reno

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) have recalled left-handed pitcher Tyler Skaggs (@TylerSkaggs37) from Single-A Visalia and optioned left-handed pitcher Eury De La Rosa to Triple-A Reno, according to D-backs' Executive Vice President & General Manager Kevin Towers.

Skaggs, 22, is 2-1 with a 4.03 ERA (13 ER in 29.0 IP) in 5 starts with the D-backs this season. He was optioned to Visalia on July 11 and did not factor in the decision in his start on July 15 vs. Inland Empire, allowing 3 earned runs in 5.2 innings.

In 11 Major League starts, Skaggs is 3-4 with a 4.94 ERA (32 ER in 58.1 IP) with 46 strikeouts.

De La Rosa, 23, appeared in 2 games with the D-backs, tossing 2.1 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts. He made his Major League debut on July 14 vs. Brewers (0 ER in 2.0 IP), becoming the fourth reliever in club history to throw at least 2.0 scoreless innings in his debut, joining Greg Aquino (2.0 IP on July 2, 2004 vs. Twins), Josh Collmenter (2.0 IP on April 17, 2011 vs. Giants) and Max Scherzer (4.1 IP on April 29, 2008 vs. Astros).
