Goldschmidt, Corbin named to National League All-Star Team

PHOENIX - The Arizona Diamondbacks (@Dbacks) 1B Paul Goldschmidt and LHP Patrick Corbin (@patrickcorbin46) were named to the National League All-Star Team in the 89th Midsummer Classic on July 17 at Nationals Park in Washington, DC.
Goldschmidt and Corbin were first-timers on the 2013 NL All-Star team when the New York Mets hosted. Goldschmidt went 1-for-2 with a double as a defensive replacement at first base. Patrick Corbin was the third pitcher for the NL, allowing 1 run on 2 hits in 1.0 inning.
This is the D-backs' second straight year with multiple All-Stars (4 in 2017) and 12th time in club history (1999, 2000, '01, '02, '07, '08, '09, '11, '13, '14, '17 and '18).
Goldschmidt, 30, is making his D-backs-record sixth All-Star appearance (2013-18), surpassing the 5 appearances by Luis Gonzalez and Randy Johnson. Corbin (2013, '18) joins Dan Haren (2008-09), Miguel Montero (2011, '14), Curt Schilling (2001-02) and Justin Upton (2009, '11) as D-backs with 2 All-Star selections.
He is the only NL position player to make each of the last 6 All-Star teams, and 1 of 3 players in the Majors to do so, along with the Angels' Mike Trout and Royals' Salvador Perez.
Goldschmidt has 4 career seasons of 20+ home runs and 50+ RBI before the All-Star break (2013, '15, '17-18), making him 1 of 4 players with 4 such seasons since 2013, joining Giancarlo Stanton (5), Nelson Cruz (5) and Edwin Encarnacion (4).
