Opening Day, Race Against Cancer & Anniversary Game highlight first homestand

The Diamondbacks on Wednesday announced the lineup of events for the club's first homestand of 2018.

OPENING DAY STREET FESTIVAL, presented by Fry's Food Stores: The Opening Day Street Festival will begin at 4:00 p.m. in front of the Gila River Hotels & Casinos Plaza along 4th Street and Jackson and will feature food trucks, D-backs inflatables, music by Sapphire Sky and several other activities. Fans can also enjoy SOL La Terraza in the Upper Right Field Concourse before the game, and features a Latin vibe with specialized décor, live music and authentic regional food.
OPENING DAY NATIONAL ANTHEM: Local artist and creator of "D-backs Swing" Roger Clyne will perform the national anthem, followed by a flyover by four F-35s from the 309th Fighter Squadron from Luke Air Force Base at the conclusion of the anthem.
OPENING DAY CEREMONIAL FIRST PITCH: The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown out by a D-backs representative from each of the club's six Postseason teams: Erubiel Durazo (1999), Luis Gonzalez (2001), Mark Grace (2002), Brandon Webb (2007), J.J. Putz (2011), Archie Bradley (2017).
PLAYER AWARDS: During a special pregame ceremony on the field, the D-backs will present Torey Lovullo with the 2017 BBWAA National League Manager of the Year Award; Paul Goldschmidt will be presented with the Louisville Silver Slugger Award; Goldschmidt and Zack Greinke will be presented with their respective Rawlings Gold Glove Awards.
HOLD THE FLAG: More than 100 D-backs fans won the opportunity to Hold the Flag during the national anthem via contests hosted by local media and dbacks.com.

D-BACKS 20TH ANNIVERSARY GAME: The D-backs will celebrate exactly 20 years since the first game at Chase Field, held on March 31, 1998 vs. the Colorado Rockies. The game will feature a pregame ceremony that will replicate the original first pitch from Andy Benes to Jorge Fabregas, with Mike Lansing at bat. Sam Moore, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and part of a group that sang the National Anthem on Opening Day in 1998, will perform the Star Spangled Banner; the team will also wear a throwback jersey and cap honoring the inaugural game.
20-YEAR SEASON TICKET HOLDERS: The D-backs will recognize all of the season ticket holders who have held season tickets for all 20 D-backs seasons during a special pregame ceremony.
20-YEAR CORPORATE PARTNERS: The D-backs will recognize all of the corporate partners who have supported the team for all 20 D-backs seasons during a special pregame ceremony.
1998 OPENING DAY BABIES: The D-backs will bring back a group of 20-year-olds who were all born at Dignity Health St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center on Opening Day in 1998. The unique group is part of the Fans for Life program and receive tickets to attend Opening Day every season.
BUDWEISER LEGENDARY CALLS EXPERIENCE: As a part of the Legends Campaign, Budweiser will provide fans a unique experience with the opportunity to make a Legendary call in D-backs history. This custom team-branded broadcast booth will be located just outside the Game Seven Grill. Fans will be able to select one of four D-backs Legendary Calls to replicate and then be able to share their experience socially.
D-BACKS RACE AGAINST CANCER: The D-backs will host their sixth annual D-backs Race Against Cancer, presented by the University of Arizona Cancer Center at Dignity Health St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. The 5k/Banana Boat Family Fun Walk will wind through the streets of downtown, beginning and ending at Chase Field. Registration for the 5k is $40 and for the 1k walk will be $20. Registration for kids 12 and under is only $5. All proceeds will benefit the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and will be distributed to Arizona non-profits that provide screening, treatment and support for those dealing with cancer. CHASE YOUR DREAMS: The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and Chase will recognize the Coronado High School baseball and softball teams during a special pregame recognition. Coronado received a $10,000 grant to purchase new baseball and softball equipment through the Chase Your Dreams program prior to the start of their current seasons.

NATIONAL SERVICE RECOGNITION NIGHT: The D-backs will recognize the men and women that serve in National Service programs like AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps VISTA, and Senior Corps who work hard to make our communities stronger. These members and volunteers serve throughout the United States in tens of thousands of non-profit organizations, faith-based groups, schools, and municipal agencies to solve tough problems and meet local needs.

WEATHER & SCIENCE DAY: The D-backs will host Weather & Science Day from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. at Chase Field. More than 1,100 elementary and middle school students will be in attendance for a day of weather and science experiments presented by the Arizona Science Center's Sari Custer and 3TV Meteorologist Kim Quintero.
CHASE YOUR DREAMS: The Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation and Chase will recognize the Bourgade Catholic High School and Gila Ridge High School baseball and softball teams during a special pregame recognition. Bourgade and Gila Ridge received $10,000 grants to purchase new baseball and softball equipment through the Chase Your Dreams program prior to the start of their current seasons.
COMMUNITY EVENTS
20th ANNIVERSARY EXPERIENCE: Fans are encouraged to check out the 20th Anniversary Experience at every D-backs home game at Chase Field. The Experience is a 2,000 square-foot exhibit at Chase Field, located on the main concourse in right field behind the Coors Light Strike Zone. It features historic artifacts, memorabilia and photography celebrating the team's history and a wall featuring baseballs signed by nearly all D-backs players and coaches. The Experience also includes a showcase of the team's 2001 World Series championship and each Silver Slugger, Gold Glove and Cy Young Award won by a D-backs player.
D-BACKS ALL-TIME TEAM VOTE, presented by Gila River Hotels & Casinos: Fans are encouraged to cast their vote for the D-backs All-Time Team at dbacks.com/20. Fans who cast their vote will automatically be entered in the All-Time Team Sweepstakes to win an autographed 20th Anniversary jersey signed by several D-backs Alumni players and four lower-level tickets to enjoy the game. Voting ends by 4:59 p.m. MST on May 15.
D-BACKS AUTHENTICS: The D-backs sell game-used and authenticated merchandise ranging from game-used bases, jerseys, bats, balls and lineup cards to autographed merchandise. A portion of the proceeds from D-backs Authentics sales benefit the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation. D-BACKS BASEBALL ACADEMY YOUTH CLINICS: D-backs Baseball Academy coaches will host two free clinics for kids at Futures Field located in the Phoenix Children's Hospital Sandlot at each D-backs home game starting one hour before first pitch and at the end of the fourth inning.
