The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired OF Nick Heath from the Kansas City Royals for RHP Eduardo Herrera. To make room on the 40-man roster, the D-backs’ designated RHP Jeremy Beasley for assignment.

Heath, 27, began the season at the Royals’ Alternate Training Site and was designated for assignment on April 14. He will wear No. 9.

Heath made his Major League debut in 2020 with Kansas City and appeared in 15 games, hitting .154 (2-for-13) with 1 double and 3 RBI.

Herrera, 21, did not play in 2020 due to no Minor League season. He pitched in 22 combined games in 2019 with Short-Season A Hillsboro and Rookie Arizona League D-backs.
