Jr. Dodgers Broadcast Program
The Jr. Dodgers Broadcast Program provides youth ages 9-14 with real sports broadcaster experience. Jr. Dodgers conduct interviews, news and play-by-play action of every regular season Sunday home game. Our goal is to engage our youngest Dodger fans in an experience that will nurture their future career interests.
During the 2016 season, the Dodgers' Community Relations department used this program as another form of outreach for the Dodgers Community of Schools and other partner schools. Principals nominate students before every Sunday home game.
The broadcasters are a team of three to four students who broadcast live from the auxiliary booth located in the stadium and air on the Dodgers' website. During the course of the game, the Jr. Dodgers broadcasters announce the game, play-by-play, and read players' history and statistics to the listeners.
The nomination may be based on:
- Providing the experience as an incentive for academic excellence
- Providing the experience as an incentive for perfect attendance
- Providing the experience because the student is interested in a career in sports or sports broadcasting
