ANAHEIM -- Ben Revere scored the game-winning run on a throwing error by Yasmani Grandal in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Angels to a 3-2 walk-off win over the Dodgers in Game 3 of the Freeway Series on Wednesday night at Angel Stadium.
Grandal homered in the ninth to tie the game at 2, but his costly defensive miscues in the bottom of the inning allowed the Angels to escape with their seventh walk-off victory of the season, the most in the Majors.
Revere fueled the rally after reaching base with one out on a fielding error by shortstop Chris Taylor and moving to second on a wild pitch by Pedro Baez. Baez subsequently struck out Cameron Maybin swinging, but the ball got past Grandal and rolled to the backstop, allowing Revere to take third on the passed ball. Grandal then tried to throw to first to get Maybin, but his throw sailed past Chase Utley and into right field, plating Revere from third and capping the Angels' bizarre comeback.
"The ninth inning was really a turn of events," Revere said. "That's the good thing about having speed here. We cause havoc on the basepaths."

"He's going to take this one hard," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Grandal. "I think Yasmani will be the first one to say he should've blocked the ball. It's a ball that did get to the dirt. I would expect him to take responsibility, and that's just the type of player he is."
Angels right-hander Alex Meyer and Dodgers left-hander Hyun-Jin Ryu kept both offenses quiet for most of the night before Andrelton Simmons finally got the Halos on the board with a two-run home run in the sixth. Simmons' shot snapped Ryu's 21-inning scoreless streak against the Angels.
Trayce Thompson collected his first hit of the season and pulled the Dodgers within one with a leadoff homer in the eighth, and Grandal tied it with a two-out solo homer off Cam Bedrosian in the ninth.
Meyer tossed six scoreless innings, holding the Dodgers to just one hit -- a fourth-inning single by Grandal -- while striking out four. The 27-year-old right-hander also issued five walks, though he managed to navigate jams in the second and third innings.

Ryu surrendered two runs on seven hits while walking one and striking out eight over 5 2/3 innings. He was struck on the left foot by a 101-mph comebacker from Simmons in the fourth, but he remained in the game until stumbling into trouble in the sixth. After yielding the homer to Simmons, Ryu allowed back-to-back singles to Martin Maldonado and Jefry Marte, which ended his night.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Simba breaks the deadlock: Ryu shut out the Angels through the first five innings before the Halos finally broke through in the sixth. Kole Calhoun led off the inning with a ground-rule double, setting up Simmons' two-out, two-run blast. Simmons crushed a first-pitch curveball from Ryu 347 feet to left field, per Statcast™, depositing the ball into the Angels' bullpen for his eighth home run.

Grandal ties it: Bedrosian was charged with protecting the Angels' 2-1 lead in the ninth, and he recorded the first two outs before permitting a game-tying homer to Grandal, who launched a 3-2 slider over the center-field fence for his 10th home run. It was the first homer Bedrosian had allowed this season.
"One bad pitch," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "Every pitch he threw but the one to Grandal [was] right on the money. Just took one, so you just have to tip your cap to Grandal. He hit it, and he hit it hard. It's tough to get one out here in center this time of night, and he did."
