LADELPHIA -- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly, unhappy with home-plate umpire D.J. Reyburn's strike zone, was ejected for the third time this season in the sixth inning of Monday's game at Philadelphia.
Mattingly's ejection followed that of bench coach Trey Hillman.
On a night that saw both Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw and Phillies starter Vance Worley struggle with balls and strikes, it was Mattingly who finally expressed his anger in the middle of the sixth. In particular, Mattingly was unhappy with a called third strike on Jerry Hairston, which ended the top half of the inning as Phillies reliever Joe Savery struck out the side.
Mattingly asked Reyburn to come over to the Dodgers dugout and Reyburn responded for Mattingly to come to him. Seconds after Mattingly reached the home-plate area, he was tossed.
