Dodgers No. 2 prospect clubs first homer in 56 at-bats; Garcia displays K's
Outfielder Joc Pederson, the Dodgers' No. 2 prospect and No. 33 overall, collected three hits Wednesday, including his first home run in more than two weeks. But it wasn't enough to overcome an early deficit, as Triple-A Albuquerque lost to Salt Lake, 7-6.
Pederson finished the game 3-for-4 with a walk and a stolen base. The home run was his sixth of the season and his first in 56 at-bats, a streak that dated back to April 15.
Pederson has reached base safely in all but two games this season. He is hitting .398 with a .504 on-base percentage in 26 games. He has scored 22 runs and stolen nine bases.
Right-hander Yimi Garcia, the Dodgers' No. 16 prospect, struck out three batters in two perfect innings of relief Wednesday. He has a 2.70 ERA and has struck out 17 batters in 14 1/3 innings this season.
