TORONTO -- The Dodgers claimed right-handed reliever Casey Fien off waivers from the Twins on Saturday.
Fien, 32, was 1-0 with a 7.90 ERA in 14 games for the Twins, allowing five home runs in 13 2/3 innings while striking out 12 and walking three.
The Dodgers said an announcement will be made on Monday regarding where Fien will be sent. He has 72 hours to report and was expected to first return to Minnesota on Saturday.
Fien, whose salary this year is $2.275 million, can be optioned to the Minor Leagues without risk of being claimed by another club.
To make room for him on the 40-man roster, the club transfered Hyun-Jin Ryu to the 60-day disabled list, a procedural move because the 60 days will be up before Ryu is ready to return.
