LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers manager Dave Roberts will be honored by the Los Angeles Sports Council as 2016 Coach of the Year at its annual dinner and awards banquet on Feb. 27 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
In his first year at the helm, Roberts led the Dodgers to their fourth consecutive NL West crown after overcoming an eight-game deficit to the Giants. He was named the NL Manager of the Year, leading the Dodgers to a 91-71 record.
Roberts is the first Dodgers manager to receive the award in the 12 years it has been presented.
Other 2016 awards to be presented include the Lifetime Achievement Award to Peter Ueberroth, Sportsman of the Year to Angels outfielder and Sportswoman of the Year to Allyson Felix. There also will be a countdown of 2016's Top 10 sports moments.
Roberts also will receive the Tommy Lasorda Managerial Award at Saturday night's 14th annual Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation banquet, also at the Beverly Hilton.
