ST. LOUIS -- The Dodgers on Thursday placed Adam Liberatore on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to Wednesday), and they recalled left-hander Grant Dayton from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts said the move was aimed "to kind of get ahead" of some forearm tightness Liberatore had been dealing with. The lefty last pitched on Tuesday, allowing two hits and striking out two in two-thirds of an inning against the Cardinals.
"He came back from the disabled list because of the groin, and I guess that he's been dealing with some forearm tightness even before that," Roberts said of Liberatore. "The other night he pitched, and it kind of popped up again."
Liberatore flew back to Los Angeles on Thursday to undergo tests on his arm. Entering his second DL stint of the season, he has pitched in just four games with the Dodgers this season, posting a 2.70 ERA over 3 1/3 innings.
Dayton entered Thursday having pitched in 14 relief outings with the Dodgers this year. The left-hander entered Los Angeles' 2-0 loss to the Cardinals in the sixth inning Thursday, and he notched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to bring his ERA to 4.73.

The Dodgers had sent Dayton back down to Oklahoma City earlier in the season with the hope he could work on some of his mechanics. Specifically, Roberts said, the goal was to keep his direction consistent and have him avoid yanking fastballs to the glove side.
"When his line is right and through the catcher, his fastball plays up, his breaking ball, he can strike," Roberts said. "But when he starts coming off the baseball and missing glove side with the yanks, that's a delivery thing."
Dayton worked with pitching coach Matt Herges in Oklahoma City to clean up his pitching motion before making his return to the Dodgers' clubhouse Thursday. He gave up three runs in his first outing in Oklahoma City, but he allowed just five hits and one run over his last four.
"We're going to get him back in the mix," Roberts said.
