Dodgers release OF Heisey

PITTSBURGH -- The Dodgers released outfielder Chris Heisey on Friday.

Heisey, 30, was part of the pin-action fallout from last week's multi-player trades. He was designated for assignment to clear 40-man roster space. At the time he was at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Heisey hit .154 in 17 games during four stints with the Dodgers this year. He was acquired during the offseason from Cincinnati for pitcher Matt Magill and signed a $2.16 million contract to essentially be Triple-A insurance.
