Van Slyke to address wrist issue with surgery

August 27th, 2016

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers outfielder will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right wrist next Thursday.
Van Slyke had been on the 15-day disabled list since Aug. 9, and was moved to the 60-day list on Thursday, signaling the end of his season.
Van Slyke has been playing with discomfort since originally spraining the wrist on a slide last year.
The outfielder saw limited action last September because of it and was left off the postseason roster. He said doctors will remove cysts and scar tissue in a clean-up procedure so he can regain range of motion without pain.
"It feels like a sprained ankle that never really goes away," Van Slyke said. "I feel it swinging and throwing."
He expects to be in a cast for a week and then begin rehab so he will be completely healed before Spring Training begins.
Injuries to Van Slyke and have provided unexpected playing time and pinch-hit at-bats for , who possesses similar right-handed power.
