Dodgers' Seager homers, promoted to Triple-A
L.A.'s top prospect lifted during Thursday's Double-A Tulsa game, headed to Oklahoma City
Dodgers No. 1 prospect Corey Seager played his final game at Double-A Tulsa on Thursday night, and he went out on a high note. The No. 7 overall prospect belted a 404-foot home run -- his fifth of the year -- before being lifted from the contest in the fourth inning, promoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Seager, the Dodgers' 2012 first-round Draft pick, has destroyed Double-A pitching this season. He has seven doubles and 15 RBIs to go along with a .375/.407/.675 slash line.
"I'm running out of words to describe this kid. He's phenomenal," Tulsa manager Razor Shines told MiLB.com last week. "Everything he does is different. I don't know how to explain what I'm seeing. It's like high school baseball, it's like he's a really good player dominating high school. He makes it look so easy.
"He's better than everybody else, it's just that simple. It's the way a young Willie Mays was better than everybody else or the way a young Hank Aaron was better than everybody else. I don't think you can explain it. I think he's this gifted. He is by far the best player I have ever managed."
Seager, a left-handed hitter, has fared especially well in his 21 at-bats against southpaws this season. He's hitting .476 with three home runs, and his OPS sits at 1.500.
A shortstop who had only played one game at third base prior to this season, Seager was playing his third game of the year at third on Thursday.
