Puig's status uncertain after hamstring flareup

SAN DIEGO -- Dodgers manager Don Mattingly was non-committal whether outfielder Yasiel Puig will wind up on the disabled list after reinjuring his left hamstring muscle in Friday night's 3-0 win over the Padres.

"The DL is always on the table" when dealing with a re-injury, Mattingly said. "As of right now, there's not much more we can do tonight."

Mattingly, however, met with club president Andrew Friedman after the game, while Puig left the clubhouse before reporters were allowed in. He was removed after grounding out to lead off the sixth inning and pulling up with a limp after hitting the first-base bag.

Last week, Puig missed four out of five starts with a tight left hamstring.

Puig, who was also hit by a pitch in the left leg in the first inning, was replaced in right field by Andre Ethier for the bottom of the sixth.

Because the Dodgers have extra outfielders in Ethier, Scott Van Slyke and even Alex Guerrero, they could initially add a pitcher if Puig goes on the DL. They need to add a starting pitcher for Sunday.
