Napoli homers, Hamels sharp as Texas tops LA

SURPRISE, Ariz -- Mike Napoli hit his second home run of the spring, this one off Dodgers starter , and the Rangers went on to a 3-2 victory at Surprise Stadium on Sunday.
Kazmir was making just his second start of the Cactus League and his first since March 6. He allowed three runs in three innings, giving up three hits and five walks, while hitting two batters.
Kazmir went up against Rangers starter Cole Hamels. Those two faced each other in Games 1 and 5 of the 2008 World Series, when Kazmir was with the Rays and Hamels was with the Phillies. That was the year Hamels won the World Series Most Valuable Player Award.

Hamels pitched well Sunday, allowing one run on two hits, two walks and two strikeouts. He threw 74 pitches and should have one more start Friday in Arlington before making his first regular-season start.

"It was good to get out there for five innings and work with [catcher] ," Hamels said. "We stuck to a good game plan, executed the sinker and changeup and that played into the way they were swinging."

continued his long-shot bid to make the Dodgers' bullpen as a non-roster invitee with a scoreless inning. He has 12 strikeouts and one walk in 8 1/3 innings. The Dodgers have openings for a right-handed reliever because (thumb) and Josh Ravin (groin) will go on the disabled list.

"He'll go back-to-back tomorrow, but he's had a really good camp," manager Dave Roberts said of Morrow. "There's more velocity there, 94, 95, 96 [mph] is what he's throwing and there's more in there. It's still coming out good, the slider looks good."
