Dodgers recall Michael Grove

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Grove and placed right-handed pitcher Tony Gonsolin on the injured list with a right forearm strain, retroactive to August 26.

Grove, 25, will make the start tonight for the Dodgers and he is 0-0 with a 5.79 ERA (3 ER/7.2 IP) and three strikeouts in two games with the Dodgers. In 17 minor league starts between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City, he is a combined 0-4 with a 3.48 ERA (26 ER/67.1 IP) and 78 strikeouts. He has been with the Dodgers four seasons and he is a combined 1-13 with a 5.83 ERA and 239 strikeouts in 59 minor-league games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the second round of the 2018 First Year Player Draft out of West Virginia University.

Gonsolin, 28, goes on the injured list for the first time this season and the third time in his career. The All-Star is 16-1 with a National League-best 2.10 ERA this season. He leads the National League in ERA, batting average against (.169), WHIP (0.86), winning percentage (.941) and is tied with Kyle Wright for the league lead in wins. He is in his fourth season with the Dodgers and he is a combined 26-6 with a 2.49 ERA (75 ER/270.2 IP) and 264 strikeouts in 58 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the ninth round of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of St. Mary’s College.
