LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers select infielder Andy Burns to replace infielder Justin Turner on the active National League Championship Series roster. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, the Dodgers designated right-handed pitcher Edwin Uceta for assignment.

Burns, 31, appeared in nine games for the Dodgers, hitting .273 (3-for-11) with one double. He spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, batting .232 (41-for-177) with 12 doubles, six homers and 24 RBI. In parts of eight minor league seasons, he is a career .264 (766-for-2900) hitter with 81 homers and 372 RBI. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 11th round of the 2011 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Arizona.

Turner, 36, left last night’s game in the seventh inning after straining his left hamstring. He appeared in a career-tying best 151 games this regular season, batting .278 with 22 doubles, 27 homers and 87 RBI. The infielder finished his 13th season in the Major Leagues and is a career .290 (1177-for-4054) hitter with 151 homers and 582 RBI. The Long Beach, CA native signed with the Dodgers in 2014 and in eight seasons with the club, he has amassed 143 homers and 493 RBI in 947 career games.
