Sandoval ready to start Minor League rehab

ST. LOUIS -- Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval will start a rehabilitation assignment with Class A San Jose beginning Friday. San Francisco manager Bruce Bochy said Sandoval will likely play two or three games in San Jose before rejoining the Giants.

Sandoval, who is expected to play five innings and start at third base for San Jose on Friday, was placed on the 15-day disabled list on July 28 retroactive to July 25 with a left hamstring strain. He last played July 24 and became eligible to come off the DL on Thursday.

The 25-year-old Sandoval is batting .299 with 33 RBIs in 97 games this season.
