World Champions Homecoming Parade

The ticker-tape parade and civic celebration in honor of the 2012 World Champion San Francisco Giants is to be held Wednesday, October 31, 2012. The parade will begin at the foot of Market Street at Steuart Street at 11 a.m. then continue westbound on Market Street turning onto McAllister Street to proceed to City Hall and Civic Center Plaza. Following the parade, on the steps of City Hall, Mayor Lee will present the entire team with a Key to the City and honor the World Series Champions in a civic celebration.

The sidewalks lining Wednesday's ticker-tape parade up Market Street and the celebration at Civic Center Plaza are open to all members of the public. Those viewing the parade and who wish to attend the celebration in Civic Center Plaza are advised to arrive early and take public transportation to the parade and Civic Center celebration for the World Champion San Francisco Giants.

Fans are strongly encouraged to take public transportation including MUNI, BART, Caltrain, Golden Gate Transit, SamTrans, and ferries to this event as parking and traffic will be extremely difficult. All Muni Metro trains will stop at Civic Center station for the civic celebration, as well as at Embarcadero, Montgomery and Powell stations for the parade. The SFMTA will schedule six additional Metro shuttles to supplement the existing Metro service. Motorists and transit riders should allow extra time as delays or detours are expected on Muni routes and lines not listed above. This will be a family-focused event for baseball fans, and will be an alcohol-free event. The parade will stream live on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area will air the broadcast live and re-air the parade coverage later that night at 11 p.m. as well as Thursday (November 1) at 7 p.m. and Friday (November 2) at 11 p.m.
