Time running out to get Giants in NL All-Star lineup

CINCINNATI -- With 20 come-from-behind victories to their credit, the Giants are accustomed to launching a late push. That's exactly what it will take for three of their players to gain election to the National League's starting lineup in the All-Star Game. The final voting update was issued on Tuesday.

Catcher Buster Posey, who led the fan balloting at his position through much of the voting season, remains a strong second, though St. Louis' Yadier Molina has opened up a clear lead. Molina has 5,093,645 votes to Posey's 4,674,847.

The tables have turned at third base, where Pablo Sandoval benefited from a surge of votes to top the Mets' David Wright last year. This time around, Wright has begun to pull away from Sandoval, garnering 4,452,282 votes to the Panda's 3,610,096.

Second baseman Marco Scutaro stands in third place, but is actually closer to the top than either Posey or Sandoval. Scutaro has 3,142,783 votes, trailing Cincinnati's Brandon Phillips (3,411,839) and St. Louis' Matt Carpenter (3,186,423).

Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- online or via a mobile device -- using the 2013 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot until Thursday at 8:59 p.m. PT.

Fans may submit 25 online ballots during the voting period but can also earn a one-time bonus of 10 additional online ballots. To access these additional online ballots, fans must be logged into an MLB.com account when submitting any online ballot. Fans can also once again participate in the Home Run Derby Fan Poll. Fans will have the opportunity to select three players in each league whom they would most like to see participate in the Home Run Derby. The 2013 Home Run Derby -- part of Gatorade All-Star Workout Day -- will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Radio in the United States beginning at 5 p.m. PT on Monday, July 15.

Rosters will be unveiled Saturday at 3:30 p.m. PT on the 2013 MLB All-Star Game Selection Show presented by Taco Bell. The show will be televised nationally on FOX.

From Saturday through Thursday, July 11, be sure to return to MLB.com and cast your 2013 All-Star Game Final Vote Sponsored by freecreditscore.com for the final player for each League's All-Star roster.

And the voting doesn't end there. The final phase of All-Star Game voting will again have fans participating in the official voting for the Ted Williams All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet. During the Midsummer Classic, fans will vote exclusively online at MLB.com via the 2013 All-Star Game MLB.com MVP Vote, and their voice will represent 20 percent of the official vote determining the recipient of the Arch Ward Trophy.

The other Giants on the All-Star ballot have garnered healthy vote totals, but aren't close to leading their respective positions.

At first base, Brandon Belt occupies fourth place with 1,804,152 votes, less than half of the total amassed by the pace-setter, Cincinnati's Joey Votto (3,622,608).

The outlook is similar for shortstop Brandon Crawford, in second place with 2,383,248 votes. Crawford is far outdistanced by Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki (4,072,834), though Tulowitzki remains out of action with a broken rib.

Among outfielders, Hunter Pence has moved up to seventh with 2,379,606 votes. Teammates Angel Pagan (2,016,370) and Gregor Blanco (1,717,194) rank ninth and 13th, respectively.
