SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Giants right-hander Johnny Cueto insisted that nobody should worry about him, though he looked vulnerable in Monday's outing against the Indians.
Cueto concluded the Cactus League portion of his regular-season preparation by yielding four runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings in the club's 5-4 loss. Indians first baseman Yonder Alonso was Cueto's primary tormentor, homering twice in a 3-for-3 afternoon.

Cueto's ERA rose from 3.60 to 5.79 spanning three performances, not including a Minor League outing this past Thursday. The Giants' No. 2 starter likely will make his final spring appearance on Saturday at Sacramento, the club's Triple-A affiliate.
"Let the show start and let's see what happens," Cueto said. "... Once the season starts, I'll be ready."

Giants manager Bruce Bochy didn't seem worried at all about Cueto, who went 8-8 with a 4.52 ERA in 2017. The season before that, he cruised to an 18-5 record and a 2.79 ERA.
"He's on schedule," Bochy said, referring to Cueto's buildup of stamina.

• Instead of appearing in a Cactus League outing, as had been previously announced, Giants right-hander Jeff Samardzija will attempt to address his pitching flaws in a Minor League game on Wednesday. The Giants' projected No. 3 starter has surrendered 10 runs and 11 hits, including six homers, in 7 2/3 innings spanning his last two outings.
• Buster Posey caught a personal spring-high seven innings on Monday and he soon will accelerate his efforts to peak for the regular season. Bochy said that Posey will rest on Tuesday before catching each of the final three games in Arizona. Posey has played in seven games and is batting .500 (9-for-18).
