Giants still hopeful Pagan can return this season

SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants manager Bruce Bochy hasn't ruled out the possibility that center fielder Angel Pagan will play again this season.

Pagan, said Bochy, has resumed swinging a bat while working out and rehabilitating his surgically repaired left hamstring at the Giants' training complex in Scottsdale, Ariz.

"We don't have a date when we think he'll be ready, but he feels pretty good," Bochy said Thursday as the Giants began a light workout at AT&T Park.

When Pagan underwent surgery on June 24, it was announced that he could be sidelined for as many as 12 weeks, which essentially would finish the switch-hitter and leadoff batter for the season. But, asked if Pagan had a chance to rejoin the team before the regular season concludes Sept. 29, Bochy said, "Sure. And he feels the same."
