Ramos breaks through with four-hit night

August 3rd, 2021

A rocky beginning to his Triple-A tenure morphed into something far different for on Monday.

MLB's No. 62 overall prospect doubled and tied his career high with four hits while driving in three runs to rally Sacramento past visiting Reno, 6-5, at Sutter Health Park. Ramos' lone extra-base hit highlighted a three-run eighth inning that gave the River Cats a lead they would not relinquish.

San Francisco's No. 3 prospect opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning. The 21-year-old added two more singles in the fourth and sixth before driving home a pair with his two-run double. It was the sixth four-hit game of Ramos' career and his third multihit performance in his last seven Triple-A contests.

Selected 19th overall in the 2017 Draft, Ramos began the season with Double-A Richmond where he spent the last 25 games of the 2019 campaign. Ramos got off to a blistering start, batting over .300 with three homers and 12 RBIs in May before slumping badly in June. Despite his struggles through the early part of summer, the Giants promoted the Puerto Rico native to Sacramento on July 21, where he got off to a 2-for-16 start before finding his stroke.

Ramos has gone 10-for-26 to bring his Triple-A slash line up to .289/.400/.395. Overall, the outfielder is batting .245/.334/.427 with 29 extra-base hits, 10 homers and 32 RBIs in 74 games.

Inching closer to his big league debut, Ramos earned an invitation to Spring Training and played well, batting .410 with a 1.143 OPS and three home runs in 39 Cactus League at-bats. The 6-foot-1, 188-pounder was one of two Giants to appear in the 2021 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. He struck out in his lone at-bat.
