The San Francisco Giants and Tastes on the Fly today officially opened the first San Francisco Giants restaurant outside of AT&T Park in Terminal 3 at San Francisico International Airport. San Francisco Giants Clubhouse brings the Giants experience to United Airlines travelers with a unique ballpark-inspired menu, a wrap-around digital wall and Giants memorabilia.
"We are excited to have a Giants presence at SFO," said Laurence M. Baer, Giants President and Chief Executive Officer. "It's a great opportunity for us to connect Giants baseball with the thousands of people who travel through the airport each day and what better way to enjoy baseball than with other fans sharing good food and drinks."
Original Google-chef and chef-owner of Calafia Cafe & Market at Go Go in Palo Alto, Charlie Ayers created a menu inspired by the ground-breaking food program at AT&T Park. The sustainable, locally-sourced menu features Papas Con Ajo (Garlic Fries), Dungeness Crab Cake Sliders and Lou Seal's Favorite Tacos and includes a variety of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan choices. The restaurant also offers a full bar.
"For inspiration, I combined the uniquely diverse culinary culture we embrace here in the San Francisco Bay Area with my love for baseball, beer and hot dogs," said Chef Ayers.
To replicate the AT&T Park experience, the restaurant features a wrap-around digital wall that showcases Giants games, sports, news, movies and other interactive entertainment. A rotating exhibit of Giants memorabilia highlights the team's strong relationship with San Francisco and the community.
All baseball fans will appreciate the architectural nuances of All-Star player numbers branded onto baseball bat wood tables, leather softened settees that feel like well-worn baseball gloves, and the Giants beloved black jerseys worn by the restaurant's staff.
Led by Principal-in-Charge Christian von Eckartsberg, AIA, BCV Architecture + Interiors designed all visual aspects of the San Francisco Giants Clubhouse. BCV's striking, highly-crafted architecture and interior environment envelops guests in both live-action sports content and the warm textures and tones of this storied Major League franchise.
San Francisco Giants Clubhouse is operated by award-winning airport restaurateur, Tastes on the Fly. At San Francisco International Airport, they also operate Napa Farms Market, Lark Creek Grill, Klein's Deli, Samovar Tea Lounge and Yankee Pier. They have 13 other restaurant brands in Boston Logan International Airport, Denver International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport.
"SFO has always been a leader in elevating the travelers' food and beverage experience in airports," said Tastes on the Fly CEO Michael Levine. "We are honored that one of baseball's most historic teams, our San Francisco Giants, have entrusted us to replicate their brand to our airport guests."
