The San Francisco Giants and Air New Zealand Team Up for a 'Kiwi' - Themed Night at AT&T Park

One lucky fan and guest to win whirlwind trip to New Zealand

On Friday, July 19, the Giants will start their nine-game homestand at AT&T Park, with a nod to New Zealand when they partner with Air New Zealand. Giants fans will be treated to a 'Kiwi' experience including pre-game festivities featuring members of the World Champion All Blacks rugby team and one lucky fan and their guest will be whisked away from the ballpark for a whirlwind weekend trip to New Zealand.

The Giants are pleased to partner with Air New Zealand to challenge fans to jump onto Twitter and tell them why they should be chosen to be transported directly from the Friday night game to San Francisco International Airport and onto an Air New Zealand flight direct to Auckland, New Zealand.

The winning fan and their guest will travel in style in lay flat Business Premier seats aboard the overnight flight. They will wake up in Auckland for a day of activities which will give them a taste of Auckland's unique sights and experiences. They will then board another overnight flight home to San Francisco.

Prior to the Giants batting practice on July 19, four of New Zealand's World Champion All Black rugby players will meet with members of the World Series Champion Giants for an on field cultural and sporting exchange. The All Blacks will kick rugby balls from home plate into the left field bleachers, while the Giants players will share tips on hitting and pitching with the visiting athletes.

"We're thrilled to be partnering with Air New Zealand to provide a truly unique game experience for our fans and assist in raising awareness about how much closer Auckland is to San Francisco than most people might think," said Jason Pearl, Giants managing vice president of sponsorship and new business development.

Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon, who will be in San Francisco for the event, said, "Market research shows Americans tend to overestimate the amount of time it takes to get to New Zealand. The reality is that it's a comfortable 12 hour overnight flight. You can jump on board, enjoy a great meal of New Zealand food and wine, go to sleep and wake up in Auckland."

"The amazing Air New Zealand 'Giant New Zealand Weekend' opportunity that's up for grabs as part of our Giants partnership is a great way to show how accessible New Zealand is to San Franciscans."
