Giants Claim Left-Handed Pitcher Tyler Anderson Off Waivers From Colorado

October 30th, 2019

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The San Francisco Giants announced today that they have claimed left-handed pitcher Tyler Anderson off waivers from the Colorado Rockies.

The 29-year-old missed most of the 2019 season after undergoing surgery on his left knee on June 11. He started the season on the Rockies’ Opening Day roster and went 0-3 with an 11.76 ERA in five starts before being placed on the injured list.

A first round draft selection (20th overall) by Colorado in 2011 from the University of Oregon, Anderson has gone 18-24 with a 4.69 ERA in 73 games (71 starts) in four seasons at the big league level.

To make room for Anderson on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Kyle Barraclough has been designated for assignment.
