SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The San Francisco Giants have signed LHP Kyle Harrison, the 85th overall selection from this year’s First-Year Player Draft, the club announced today. The Giants have now come to terms with all seven of their selections from the 2020 First-Year Player Draft.

Harrison was selected out of De La Salle High School in Concord, California. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder went 21-1 with a 1.19 ERA and 192 strikeouts over his high school career. Ranked 63rd by MLBPipeline among top draft prospects, the Danville native went 10-0 with a 1.26 ERA as a junior for the Spartans. Last summer, he had the top ERA in the 2019 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup while pitching for Team USA. He didn’t allow a run in 10.0 innings while striking out 12 batters. His maternal grandfather, Skip Guinn, pitched parts of three seasons with the Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros between 1968-71. Guinn, who had 40 strikeouts in 36.2 big league innings, was a teammate of Hall of Famers Hank Aaron, Joe Torre, Phil Niekro, Joe Morgan and former San Francisco Giants managers Dusty Baker and Felipe Alou.
