GIANTS ACQUIRE OF LAMONTE WADE JR. IN EXCHANGE FOR RHP SHAUN ANDERSON

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — The San Francisco Giants announced that they have acquired outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for right-handed pitcher Shaun Anderson.

Wade Jr., 27, was the Twins’ ninth round selection of the 2015 First Year Player Draft out of the University of Maryland. The left-handed hitter appeared in 16 games for Minnesota in 2020, hitting .231 (9-for-39) and also spent time at the Twins Alternate Training Site. He made his Major League debut in 2019 and played in 26 games with Minnesota. Over his 42 career Major League games, he’s appeared in all three outfield positions; center field (18 games), left field (11 games), right field (eight games) and at first base (five games).

He has posted a .276 average with a .389 on-base percentage, 70 doubles, 17 triples, 40 home runs and 44 stolen bases in 480 career minor league games. Over his minor league career, Wade Jr. has drawn more walks (303) than he has struck out (281).

Anderson posted a 3.52 ERA in 18 relief appearances in 2020. In two big league seasons with the Giants, the 26-year-old posted a 3-5 record with a 5.17 ERA in 46 games.
