Shane Turner enters his 23rd season with the Giants and his first as a special assistant to the baseball operations department. From 2008-2013, Turner served as the Giants Coordinator of Minor League Operations. In this role, Turner traveled to each of the Giants' minor league affiliates to work closely with SF's young players. In his 20-plus years with the Giants, Turner has managed or coached at every level within the Giants' minor league system. The highlight of his managerial career came in 1998 when he led Class A Advanced San Jose to a leaguebest 83-57 record and the California League Championship, the first ever in San Jose's affiliation with San Francisco. Turner played professionally for 11 years as an infielder in the minor league systems of Chicago-AL, Baltimore, San Francisco, Seattle, Philadelphia and New York-AL. Turner resides in Sinking Spring, PA with his wife Beth and their two children.
