Indians promote RHP Fernando Nieve; RHP Brett Myers placed on the 15-day DL

The Cleveland Indians today announced the following roster moves relative to the Major League roster:

Selected the contract of RHP FERNANDO NIEVE from AAA Columbus.

Placed RHP BRETT MYERS on the 15-day Disabled List with right elbow inflammation (retroactive to April 20).

Nieve, 30, is making his first appearance at the Major League level since July of 2010 with the

New York Mets.  After signing with Cleveland in the off-season, the non-roster invitee went 0-1 with a 1.38ERA in 3 games/1 start (13.0IP, 10H, 3R/2ER, 4BB, 17K, .217AVG) after beginning the campaign with Columbus.  He is wearing #57.

Myers has gone 0-3 with an 8.02 ERA in 4 games/3 starts this season (21.1IP, 29H, 19R/ER, 5BB, 12K, 10HR, .319AVG).  He has been shut down indefinitely with right elbow inflammation and will be examined today in Cleveland by team doctors.

RHP COREY KLUBER , last night's winning pitcher, will assume Myers' spot in the rotation and start on Wednesday, April 24 in Chicago vs. the White Sox.
