CLEVELAND -- The Indians were not satisfied with their brief taste of the postseason as the American League's top Wild Card team. Cleveland wants to make a deeper run through October, but the players know that quest begins on the back fields in Goodyear, Ariz.
Let the countdown begin: 81 days until Spring Training starts for the Indians.
On Friday, Cleveland announced its spring report dates and also unveiled its 2014 preseason schedule. Highlighting the slate of games is a pair of exhibition contests in San Diego, where the Indians will take on the Padres on March 28-29 at Petco Park in preparation for the Tribe's regular-season opener in Oakland.
The Indians begin the 2014 season on the road against the A's on March 31.
Cleveland's Cactus League schedule includes 30 games -- excluding the pair of exhibition tilts in San Diego -- and opens with three consecutive contests (Feb. 26-28) against the Reds at Goodyear Ballpark. The Indians will serve as the host team for 15 games, but will play 18 total games at Goodyear Ballpark, which is shared with the Reds.
The Indians will host a night game against the Giants on March 18 in Goodyear.
The Tribe's pitchers and catchers are required to report to Spring Training on Feb. 11, and that group's first official workout is planned for Feb. 13. The Indians' remaining position players will need to report by Feb. 15, and the team will hold its first full-squad workout on Feb. 17.
Season tickets for the Indians' spring slate will become available on Dec. 3, while mini plans and group tickets will go on sale at noon ET on Dec. 9. Single-game tickets will go on sale at noon ET on Dec. 14. For more information on tickets, travel packages, promotions and other planned spring events, visit Indians.com/spring.
